About Event
The Shri Ram Economics Summit, one of the most awaited undergraduate-cum-postgraduate summits in the country organised by the Economics Society of the Shri Ram College of Commerce, is every economics aficionado’s dream come true. It goes beyond the realm of conventional textbook economics to enthral and engage novices and relative veterans alike.The event is attended by business leaders, entrepreneurs, eminent inspiring personalities and students from over 70 undergraduate and postgraduate schools across the length and breadth of the country, with a footfall of no less than a thousand students. This year, the summit has exciting events in store for economics enthusiasts. In keeping with the age-old tradition of inviting eminent personalities to enlighten young minds, the summit comprises of riveting speaker sessions by connoisseurs from various fields like economics, finance and politics. Past summits have been illuminated with talks by ex-CAG’s, global strategists, RBI governors and World Bank directors; some well-known personalities include C. Rangarajan, Onno Ruhl, Vinod Rai, Sanjeev Sanyal, Nachiket Mor and Subhr Gokarn. The summit also comprises of a paper-presentation competition, where undergraduate and postgraduate students are given a platform to showcase their research to a panel of renowned economists. Speciality events of the summit include the Charlatan’s Chutzpah, a mind-boggling game that seeks to resolve previously unasked and unanswered questions and lays bare the inherent paradoxes of the seemingly ‘rational’ subject of economics. Econovergenece is another stimulating event where participants will deliberate and debate on ongoing economic issues, formulate policies and resolve ongoing world crises. The summit even has an event for school students, The Young Economist, which is designed to expose beginners to the breadth of the discipline through fun, thought-provoking games. From neoclassical to heterodox economics, this summit seeks to cover it all.
